Ornaments honoring loved ones benefit Cancer Resource Alliance

Each year during the holiday season, the Cancer Resource Alliance (CRA) sells ornaments to decorate trees at the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center. Anyone may purchase an ornament with a suggested $10 donation in honor of or in memory of someone special.

All proceeds from these ornaments benefit the CRA, which provides programs and services to help cancer survivors and their families find support during and after diagnosis and treatment.

Two decorated trees will be on display inside the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center. They will be in the Medical Oncology lobby and the Radiation Oncology lobby from December 1st until January 3rd, 2025.

Elegant, stained glass bird ornaments with a commemorative ribbon have been chosen for this occasion. Local artist and spouse of a current patient, Loretta Barbee has created unique stained glass ornaments with each honoree’s name hand painted on each ornament.

To Attend the Lighting of the Tree Event

Please join us on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 6:00 pm for the 10th Annual Lighting of the Tree event that will display these beautiful ornaments. The event will be held in the Medical Oncology Lobby at the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center on the campus of Watauga Medical Center. Light refreshments will be served and this event is free to the public.

If you would like to keep your commemorative ornament, visit the Cancer Center’s Medical Oncology Department (upper level) to pick it up during the week of January 6th-10th from 8 am until 5 pm.
