Baker Center for Primary Care Offers Personalized Weight Loss Clinic
Dr. Molly Haas is bringing her passion for health and fitness to a new service at Baker Center for Primary Care. She is at the helm of a new weight management program in which she partners with patients to create realistic and sustainable lifestyle changes.
Dr. Haas offers a patient-specific, multimodal approach that includes nutrition counseling, physical activity guidance, behavioral and lifestyle modifications, and medication management when appropriate. This comprehensive approach allows patients to receive the support and tools they need to achieve meaningful and sustainable results.
While individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 25 will most likely benefit from this structured weight management model, anyone with a history of weight struggles, recurrent weight cycling, or those experiencing weight gain is welcome to participate.
Patients wishing to participate in the weight loss clinic at Baker Center do not need to establish primary care with her. Though a referral is not needed, Dr. Haas works collaboratively with other providers to support their patients' weight-loss goals while allowing them to remain connected with their established PCP. “This arrangement often benefits both the patient and the referring provider, as it allows the PCP to focus on managing other acute and chronic medical conditions while I provide dedicated attention to weight management and lifestyle interventions,” Dr. Haas said.
Patients participating in Dr. Haas’ weight loss clinic will typically begin with monthly visits to monitor progress and make timely adjustments to treatment plans, particularly when a patient is starting a new medication. As patients establish healthy routines and demonstrate consistent progress, visits are gradually spaced out to every three months and eventually every six months once they are stable and successfully maintaining their goals.
Dr. Haas says this follow-up structure allows her to get to know her patients and gain a deeper understanding of the unique barriers they face. Seeing patients more frequently than in a traditional primary care setting creates opportunities for meaningful conversations, personalized coaching, and ongoing support that can make a significant difference in long-term success.
Ultimately, Dr. Haas’ goal is helping patients develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to make meaningful changes that improve their long-term health and well-being.
“Weight management can have a profound impact on overall health, confidence, energy levels, and quality of life, and it’s incredibly rewarding to support patients as they work toward their goals,” she said. “I believe that lasting success comes from building healthy habits that fit into each individual’s life, and I enjoy educating and encouraging patients along that journey.”
