Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health

A place for empowerment and healing

Our behavioral health patients are also our community members – friends, neighbors, and family members who, at any given time, may be having a hard time coping with circumstances in their lives and need intervention.

Since 2008, Cannon Memorial Hospital Outpatient Behavioral Health has provided a safe and secure space for mental health patients who perhaps would have nowhere to go, or would have to travel a distance to find help. Our recently established independent, freestanding Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health will extend that to even more patients in the years to come. Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health is a 27-bed inpatient facility.

With a 96% patient / family satisfaction rate, the professionals at Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health are clearly passionate about their patients and seeing them progress. They work to meet the patient where they are and provide them with the care they need so they can thrive.

Meet Our Team

Services

We provide a top-tier treatment experience for our patients. Our healing environment includes open areas with natural light and mountain views. We partner with our patients to meet them where they are and provide a combination of coping skills and didactic approaches to therapy.

The location is comprised of three separate spaces: Admissions, Treatment Mall and Residence Hall. All patients go through an admissions process which includes nursing care, medical history and physical assessments. At the time of admission every patient will get an individual meal, medication and therapy treatment schedule.

Walk-In Assessment

Walk-ins (age 18-64) accepted for assessment 24/7
In case of emergency, call 911

Walk-ins are welcome because we are a free-standing facility. Patients do not need to go to the Emergency Department (ED) first, like other facilities. Anyone with any issue can walk in and be assessed to determine if they need inpatient or outpatient care. However, only adults, ages 18-64, can be admitted.

If a person is experiencing a crisis, it does not mean that psychiatric hospitalization is appropriate or an involuntary commitment is necessary.

If a person does not need psychiatric hospitalization or involuntary commitment, crisis services can still be helpful with an action plan.
