Where can I find the list of closings and cancellations?
When an Inclement Weather Warning has been issued, please call the UNC Health Appalachian Inclement Weather phone line and/or scroll down to see if the Inclement Weather Plan has been activated before leaving home for your appointment.
What does it mean for patients?
When our Inclement Weather Plan is activated:
- If you have an appointment at a Medical Office or Outpatient Facility:
- For the safety of our patients and staff, UNC Health Appalachian medical offices and outpatient facilities may close early, delay opening, or be closed an entire day. A list of the outpatient facilities that may be affected in the event of inclement weather are listed below.
- Contact the facility to reschedule your appointment.
- Telehealth Video Visits:
- Patients can meet with a healthcare provider using a computer or mobile device from the safety of their own home.
- Contact the facility to find out if a Telehealth appointment is available.
- If you are a current hospital patient:
- If you have a life-threatening illness or injury:
- UNC Health Appalachian hospitals are open 24 hours a day, 7 days week. If you have an emergency, please proceed to your nearest emergency room or call 911.
