Infusion Services
Infusion therapy is used for conditions that either do not respond to oral medications or require a long duration of administration. It is also used to deliver medications that are not available in pill form, such as blood products and chemotherapy. We offer both chemo and non-chemo infusion at UNC Health Appalachian.
To ensure your safety and proper care during infusion treatment, it is now required that all infusion patients establish care with a local provider. This provider will review and sign off on your therapy plan orders. Having a local provider in place is essential to ensure that any safety concerns, therapy adjustments, or potential reactions are promptly and appropriately addressed.
Chemotherapy
Patients diagnosed with cancer may receive chemotherapy infusions at the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center located behind the hospital. The medical oncology unit is on the main floor.
Non-Cancer Infusion
The Infusion Suite is located on the first floor of Watauga Medical Center Monday through Friday from 8 am – 5 pm. Patients should check in at the Main Registration, and then proceed to the infusion suite. Infusion Services are now also available at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville.
Medical Office Infusions
Some infusion patients who need infusions in an office setting will receive treatment at AppRheumatology. Your scheduler will inform you of your location.
